Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on April 28 for a major development push in his parliamentary constituency, where he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 163 projects worth approximately ₹6,300 crore. The projects cover infrastructure, road connectivity, railways, urban amenities and public welfare initiatives aimed at accelerating the city’s growth.
Signature Bridge Over Ganga Among Major Announcements
One of the key highlights of the visit will be the announcement of a signature bridge over the Ganga River. The proposed bridge is expected to significantly improve traffic movement and strengthen connectivity across Varanasi, while also emerging as a landmark infrastructure project for the city.
Boost to Rail and Transport Infrastructure
As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will also virtually flag off two Amrit Bharat Express trains—one connecting Varanasi to Pune and another linking Ayodhya with Mumbai—further improving rail connectivity for passengers.
Public Event Focused on Women’s Empowerment
PM Modi is also scheduled to address a large public gathering under the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ programme at BLW Ground, where over 50,000 women are expected to participate.
Security Tightened Ahead of Visit
Extensive security arrangements have been made across Varanasi in view of the Prime Minister’s visit. Police personnel, surveillance teams, CCTV monitoring and anti-drone systems have been deployed at key locations throughout the city.
The visit is being seen as part of the government’s continued focus on infrastructure-led development in Varanasi ahead of upcoming national political milestones.
