PM Targets Opposition Over encouraging 'violence, intimidation'; recalls Bihar's 'Jungle Raj' era

Patna, Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the RJD-Congress alliance in Bihar, accusing it of encouraging violence and corruption, and warning that their return to power would revive the era of “Jungle Raj.”

Speaking at an election rally in Aurangabad, PM Modi cited a recent remark made at a Mahagathbandhan event where a young supporter allegedly said he would “carry a katta (pistol)” if Tejashwi Yadav’s government came to power.

“The people of Jungle Raj have everything required to create an atmosphere of fear, extortion, and kidnapping in Bihar. If they return to power, they will repeat the same history,” Modi said.

‘Naxalism Was at Its Peak Under RJD-Congress Rule’

The Prime Minister reminded the audience that Aurangabad had long suffered from Naxal violence and criminal activity during the previous RJD-Congress regime.

“Nobody dared travel at night, and even riding a bike or scooter was unsafe. Only after Nitish Kumar’s leadership came under NDA did the situation begin to change,” he added.

PM Modi also accused the Congress-led UPA government (2005–2014) of obstructing Bihar’s development by not cooperating with the Nitish Kumar administration.

“After 2014, when the NDA came to power at the Centre, the double-engine government accelerated Bihar’s growth. We have given three times more funds for development,” he asserted.

‘RJD Betrays Its Own Allies’

Modi alleged that the RJD had “betrayed” even its ally, the Congress, by allotting it only those seats the party had not won in nearly four decades.

“If they can betray their partners, how can they be trusted by the people of Bihar?” he asked.

PM Highlights NDA’s Track Record

Defending his government’s performance, the Prime Minister listed key promises fulfilled by the BJP-led NDA, including the abrogation of Article 370, construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and implementation of One Rank, One Pension (OROP) for armed forces veterans.

He accused the Congress of delaying OROP for 40 years, saying it refused to implement it for a cost of Rs 500 crore, while the NDA government spent Rs 1 lakh crore to make it a reality.

‘Women and Youth Back NDA’

PM Modi praised the record 65 per cent voter turnout in the first phase of polling, claiming it reflected people’s confidence in the NDA and their rejection of the Opposition.

He said women voters in particular had voted overwhelmingly for the alliance because of welfare measures and security under Nitish Kumar’s administration.

“The people of Bihar will not allow Jungle Raj to return,” he said to loud cheers from the crowd.

Promises for Farmers and Youth

Modi also unveiled new assurances, stating that if the NDA returns to power in the state, it will add ₹3,000 annually to the ₹6,000 provided under PM-KISAN, raising total aid to ₹9,000 per farmer per year.

He reaffirmed that the NDA would create one crore jobs for Bihar’s youth and labelled the RJD manifesto “false propaganda.”

“The RJD gave jobs in exchange for land. Their manifesto is a lie, and even Congress leaders are not endorsing it,” the PM alleged.

‘Faith in Development Over Fear’

Concluding his address, PM Modi said the people of Bihar had placed their faith in “development and stability” over “fear and violence.”

“The NDA’s record is of fulfilling promises, while the Mahagathbandhan’s record is of betrayal and Jungle Raj,” he declared.
