Police arrest accused Ranjit Singh in Kamal Kaur murder case

Under the ongoing campaign against gangsters and organized crime, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar has achieved a major success. The police have arrested Ranjit Singh, who is absconding from bail in the UAPA and Arms Act case of SSOC, and is wanted in the murder case of influencer Kamal Kaur of Bathinda.

Giving information in this regard, Commissioner of Police Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that as per the instructions of DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, IPS, this action has been taken under the ongoing campaign against drugs and gangsters. The police is fully prepared to take strict action against anti-social elements for organized crime and public safety.

CP Amritsar said that on the basis of confidential information, different teams of CIA staff Amritsar were formed under the leadership of ADCP Investigation and ACP Crime under the supervision of DCP Investigation Ravinderpal Singh. The teams took swift action and arrested the accused Ranjit Singh from the Amritsar area.

According to the police, Ranjit Singh was absconding despite being on bail in a case registered by the SSOC under UAPA and Arms Act, during which two hand grenades and a pistol were recovered. Apart from this, he is also wanted in the murder case of influencer Kamal Kaur of Bathinda.

The police also said that the accused, along with his co-accused Amritpal Singh Mehron, has been involved in many violent crimes in the past. This includes the incident of vandalism of statues depicting Bhangra and Giddha on Heritage Street near Sri Darbar Sahib.
