Former Kejriwal’s Minister Kailash Gahlot joins BJP

New Delhi: Day after quitting Aam Aadmi Party, Former Delhi Minister and AAP leader Kailash Gahlot joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP leaders.

Yesterday Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot resigned from both the Cabinet and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), citing concerns over corruption and the party’s departure from its commitment to public welfare.

In a letter to party leader Arvind Kejriwal, Gehlot expressed that the ongoing corruption allegations linked to Kejriwal’s former official residence have caused significant embarrassment. He pointed to controversies like the extravagant Rs 45 crore renovation of the residence, which is currently under CBI investigation, as damaging to the party’s credibility.

Gehlot criticized AAP for prioritizing political ambitions over its foundational values, leading to many unfulfilled promises. He voiced particular disappointment regarding the government’s failure to clean the Yamuna River, stating it is now more polluted than ever. He lamented that instead of advocating for citizens’ rights, the party has become preoccupied with its political agenda, hindering its ability to provide basic services to Delhi residents.

In his resignation, Gehlot expressed his desire to continue serving the public, stating that he felt compelled to leave AAP to uphold his commitment to the people. Following his resignation, Delhi BJP chief Virender Sachdeva praised Gehlot’s decision, interpreting it as confirmation of the corruption allegations previously raised against the AAP government.
