A prisoner attempting to escape from police custody in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, was killed during an encounter. A video of the incident has surfaced, showing a scuffle between the prisoner and a police officer.
Escape attempt during medical examination
According to reports, police had brought three prisoners to the Civil Hospital for medical examination on Saturday. The prisoners were being transported to an ambulance in an e-rickshaw.
During this time, prisoner Naseeb Singh suddenly broke free from a police officer and began running. When the police tried to stop him, he allegedly attacked him with a knife.

Knife attack on police officer
The video shows the prisoner stabbing a police constable several times. Despite this, the police officer did not release the handcuffs and continued to try to apprehend the accused.
A scuffle later broke out between the two on the street, during which the accused tried to snatch the police officer’s pistol.
Shot fired during scuffle
According to police, a shot was fired during the scuffle, injuring the prisoner and causing him to fall. Following the incident, people gathered at the scene.
The injured prisoner died on the spot. The injured police officer was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Naseeb Singh was accused in several cases
Hoshiarpur SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that the deceased prisoner has been identified as Naseeb Singh. He was accused in seven cases, including murder, attempted murder, and the NDPS Act.
According to police, his father is also in jail for murder and drug-related cases.
