Panjab university student council elections to be held on September 3rd

Chandigarh, August 22: The 2025 Campus Student Council (PUCSC) elections at Panjab University will be held on September 3. This information was given by the university administration today. The code of conduct for student elections has been implemented with the announcement of the election date.

This time, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) and University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) are being considered as ‘playmakers’ in the elections as these departments have the highest number of voters. According to the 2024 admissions,

UIET had 2,518 registered voters,

UILS had 1,950,

and Department of Law had 1,100 student voters.

In total, 10,479 out of 15,897 student voters cast their votes last year.

Chemical Engineering and Technology – 624

Dental Science – 492

University Business School – 477

Applied Management – ​​435

Pharmaceutical Sciences – 421

Physics – 415

Chemistry – 409

Hotel Management & Tourism – 402

Last year’s election recap (2024):

Last year, Anurag Dalal created history when he won the election as an independent candidate and formed the Democratic Students’ Front (DSF) a few days before the election.

He won by 3,433 votes, defeating Prince Chaudhary of CYSS by 303 votes.

Other winning candidates:

Vice-President: Archit Garg (NSUI) – 3,631 votes

Secretary: Vineet Yadav (INSO) – 3,298 votes

Joint Secretary: Jaswinder Rana (ABVP) – 3,489 votes

Observations:

Election preparations have gained momentum and student organizations are taking up their campaigns. With the implementation of the code of conduct, election-related activities are being monitored in the university campus.
