2,437 Assistant Lineman Jobs Announced in Punjab

In a major relief to thousands of youths of the state, the Punjab government has decided to induct 2,437 apprentice youths undergoing training in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited on a regular basis. These youths will be appointed to the post of Assistant Lineman (ALM).

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that PSPCL had invited applications for 2,600 apprenticeship posts for ITI pass youth about eight-nine months ago. For this, a computer-based examination was conducted, in which successful candidates were selected for training. Out of these, 2,437 youths have started training in the department, and they have been gaining experience by working in the field for more than six months.

  • Harpal Singh Cheema said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has always been in favour of providing employment to the youth of Punjab. Under this policy, the Chief Minister directed the department to start the process of regularizing the youth undergoing training. Legal opinion was taken from the Advocate General in this regard. After reviewing the legal process and departmental rules, it became clear that trainees fulfilling the prescribed minimum qualifications can be appointed in the department.
  • Cheema said that at this time the workload on the electricity department is very high. Summer is at its peak, and the monsoon is also about to knock. In such a situation, in view of the need for additional technical staff at the field level, the services of these youths will be taken in the department. The recruitment process is almost complete and soon these youngsters will be appointed as Assistant Linemen in PSPCL.
  • He said that it is the dream of the Chief Minister to provide maximum employment opportunities to the youth. The Chief Minister believes that any youth who passes the examination and fulfills the prescribed minimum qualifications should get employment opportunities. Under this thinking, this recruitment process has been completed.
  • The finance minister said that now these youth will have to give a basic test, in which knowledge of Punjabi language will be compulsory. They will have to pass this test of Punjabi language. If they successfully pass it, the department will appoint them immediately. The department will conduct this test and after the completion of the examination, the successful candidates will be given immediate appointment.
  • This is a language related test: All candidates coming from Punjab and outside the state will have to take this test. This is a language related test, without which appointment to the Punjab government will not be possible. The language test has been made necessary because the deployment of employees can be done in any village or city.
  • The department will release the syllabus and date of the examination: Only if they have knowledge of Punjabi language, they will be able to communicate effectively with the common people and will be able to do their work in a better way. For this purpose, this basic Punjabi language test has been implemented. The department will soon release the syllabus and date of this exam on its website, so that candidates can prepare and appear in the exam in time.
