New Delhi: The Punjab government will commence a series of commemorative events dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, by performing an ‘ardas’ at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib here on October 25.
Month-Long Commemorations Finalised
State Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Tarunpreet Singh Sond announced that the government has finalised a month-long schedule to mark this historic occasion.
The series of events will begin on October 25 at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Cabinet Ministers, and other dignitaries will pay obeisance.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister will also visit the sacred martyrdom sites of Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, and Bhai Dayala Ji, who made unparalleled sacrifices in devotion to the Guru.
Kirtan Darbar and Spiritual Gatherings
Later in the evening, a grand Kirtan Darbar will be held at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib, where a large congregation of devotees is expected to participate.
The ministers said Guru Tegh Bahadur, known as ‘Hind Di Chadar’, laid down his life in Delhi to protect human rights and religious freedom, a sacrifice unmatched in world history.
Light & Sound Shows and Kirtan Darbars Across Punjab
From November 1 to 18, light and sound shows will be organised across all districts of Punjab, depicting the Guru’s life and teachings.
Kirtan Darbars will also be held in towns and cities blessed by the Guru’s presence to spread his message of peace and humanity.
Nagar Kirtans from Srinagar and Other Takhts
A Nagar Kirtan will commence from Srinagar on November 19, with participation from hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits.
It will halt at Jammu (Nov 19), Pathankot (Nov 20), and Hoshiarpur (Nov 21) before reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
Simultaneously, three other Nagar Kirtans will begin from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur, all converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Major Events at Sri Anandpur Sahib
To mark the grand finale, the state government will organise major events at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25.
A special tent city, “Chakk Nanaki,” will be set up to accommodate thousands of devotees attending the commemoration.
A Sarv-Dharm Sammelan (interfaith conference) will also be held, symbolising Guru Tegh Bahadur’s message of harmony and universal faith. The city will further host a special exhibition and a drone show illustrating the Guru’s life and teachings.
Special Vidhan Sabha Session
On November 24, a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will be convened at Sri Anandpur Sahib, dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom.
Eminent personalities will share insights on his philosophy, supreme sacrifice for human rights, and his role in preserving religious freedom.
