Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has convened a special session of the Punjab Assembly from September 26 to 29 to deliberate on measures addressing the devastation caused by recent floods.
During the four-day session, the House is expected to pass pro-people amendments to certain existing rules and approve new laws aimed at ensuring timely and adequate compensation for affected families and farmers.
Officials said the special sitting underscores the government’s commitment to provide relief and rehabilitation to those impacted by the floods, while also strengthening legal frameworks to deal with such calamities more effectively in the future.
The move comes amid growing demands from across the state for a structured compensation mechanism and stronger safeguards against natural disasters.
