The intense sunlight and humidity in Punjab and Chandigarh are troubling people. On Sunday, a slight drop of 0.4 degrees in temperature was recorded, but it is still 3.3 degrees higher than normal. Bathinda remained the hottest in the state, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43.8 degrees.
According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Center, from April 27 to 30, a yellow alert has been issued in the state for heatwave, warm nights, and thunderstorms. During this period, there is a possibility of strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour along with lightning. There may be some relief from the heat on May 1, but the heat is expected to increase again from May 2.
According to the weather department, today there is a possibility of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in some areas of 7 districts: Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa. Meanwhile, in 9 districts: Firozpur, Faridkot, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Mohali, a heatwave is expected.
In 7 districts, the temperature remained above 40 degrees, including Chandigarh (40.8), Ludhiana (42.4), Patiala (42.4), Bathinda (43.7), SBS Nagar (40.5), Faridkot (42.8), and Rupnagar (41.4). In 6 districts, the temperature remained between 35 and 40 degrees, such as Amritsar (39.3), Pathankot (38.8), Fazilka (39.9), Firozpur (39.0), Hoshiarpur (37.9), and Moga (39.4) degrees.

According to Surendra Pal, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Chandigarh, light rain may occur in several places from April 27 to May 2. The temperature will remain steady for the next two days, after which a drop of 2 to 4 degrees is possible. On April 26 and 27, some areas may experience a heatwave, while on May 2, there is a possibility of strong winds and lightning along with thunder.
Between April 28 and 30, several districts may witness storms and rain, with wind speeds reaching up to 30 to 50 km per hour.

April 29 – In 14 districts (Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar/Mohali), there is a possibility of storms/thunder with strong winds of 30–40 km/h and light to moderate rain in some places.
