Chandigarh: Punjab Police has achieved a major success by busting an ISI-sponsored terror module linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in Jalandhar. The operation was carried out in a joint operation by Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and Jalandhar Rural Police, resulting in the arrest of a key accused.
IED Packed with 1.3 kg of High-Explosive Recovered
Police recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) loaded with 1.3 kg of high-explosive from the accused. Shrapnel and ball bearings were also found in the IED, indicating that it was intended to be used as part of a conspiracy to cause widespread damage and spread unrest in the state.
Investigation into Foreign Handlers and Local Network Underway
According to the Punjab DGP, this timely action averted a major terrorist attack and saved the lives of many innocent people. A case has been registered at the Patara Police Station (Jalandhar Rural) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act.
Police are now conducting a thorough investigation to identify the foreign handlers, local associates, and the entire network involved in this terrorist plot. Punjab Police said that the campaign against terrorism and organised crime in the state will continue and every possible step will be taken to ensure peace and security.
