Ferozepur, August 14, 2025 – In a significant breakthrough, the Counter Intelligence unit in Ferozepur, Punjab, has successfully thwarted a major terror plot orchestrated by Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harwinder Rinda, with backing from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The operation led to the apprehension of two BKI operatives who were actively conspiring to target government establishments using grenades.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, Punjab Police conducted a targeted operation, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects, who were operating under the directions of handlers based in the UK, USA, and Europe.
The police recovered two hand grenades and one Beretta 9mm pistol along with live cartridges from the operatives, effectively neutralizing a potential threat to public safety.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav commended the Counter Intelligence unit for their swift action, stating, “This operation underscores Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling terror networks and ensuring peace in the state. The recovery of dangerous weapons and the arrest of these operatives have averted a major incident.”
The accused were allegedly planning grenade attacks on government establishments, posing a severe risk to public infrastructure and safety.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosive Substances Act at a local police station in Ferozepur. Further investigations are underway to uncover additional links to the terror network and identify other potential collaborators.
