Punjab Bus Services halt as Contract Workers’ Strike Enters Day 5

Punjab Roadways, Punbus/PRTC Contract Workers Union, Punjab, will block government buses across Punjab today. Due to this, the people of Punjab are likely to face a lot of trouble. The contractual employees of PRTC and PUNBUS have decided to block buses across Punjab from February 12 to get their colleagues released and their previously accepted demands implemented.

According to information, bus services in Punjab will be affected on Wednesday as the employees of Punjab Roadways, Punbus, and PRTC will go on strike for their unfulfilled demands. The union has said that 7,200 employees of government buses will go on a one-day strike, and if their demands are not met, they will intensify their agitation. The union leaders said that the contract employees have been demanding regularization for many years, but so far, they have only been given assurances.

The contractual employees said that due to the government’s delaying attitude, they were left with no option but to go on strike. Meanwhile, PRTC employees have alleged that since Wednesday night, raids have been carried out on the houses of all the state committee members, including the Punjab president, and attempts are being made to arrest them. They claim that this is an attempt to suppress the voice of the people.

Let us tell you that the temporary employees had held a meeting with the PRTC and the Transport Secretary at 12 noon on Wednesday. This meeting lasted for about six hours, but no consensus could be reached on their demands. The leaders of the employee union were demanding the release of the leaders who were arrested earlier. The employees will protest at 12 noon today.
