Temperatures in Punjab continue to drop. The state’s minimum temperature remains below normal, leading to increased coldness during both days and nights. However, due to the Western Disturbance not being active, rain is unlikely, which could lead to a 1-2 degree increase in temperatures in the coming days. However, the mercury will remain close to normal.
According to the Meteorological Center, the temperature has dropped by 0.2 degrees compared to yesterday. Consequently, all cities in the state recorded minimum temperatures of 10 degrees or less. Faridkot recorded the lowest temperature at 7 degrees, while Amritsar recorded 9.4 degrees, Ludhiana 9.5 degrees, Pathankot 9.3 degrees, Bathinda 8 degrees, and Gurdaspur 10 degrees.
At the same time, maximum temperatures are also being recorded below 30 degrees. Bathinda was the hottest city in the state, recording a temperature of 29.9 degrees Celsius, while Amritsar recorded 25.6 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 26.6 degrees Celsius, Patiala 26.8 degrees Celsius, and Pathankot 23.8 degrees Celsius.
No Relief from Pollution
Although temperatures are falling in Punjab, there seems to be no relief from pollution. Khanna and Mandi Gobindgarh are the only two cities with average pollution levels above 200 degrees Celsius, while all other cities have pollution levels between 100 and 200 degrees Celsius.
There is no sign of rain in Punjab in the next two weeks, which makes a permanent solution to the pollution problem unlikely. The Health Department has also issued an advisory in this situation, urging people to wear masks when outdoors and to avoid burning stubble.
