At the same time, the impact of the water released from Bhakra in the past few days was also seen in Moga, Punjab. The water level of Sutlej increased on Thursday. After which many villages of 8 districts including Moga have now come under the grip of flood.
The water level of the dams is continuously increasing
According to the data available till 6 am on 22 August 2025, the water level in all the three big dams of Punjab is increasing
Bhakra Dam built on Sutlej River: The full filling level of the dam is 1685 feet and the total capacity is 5.918 MAF. At present, its water level has been recorded at 1666.83 feet, in which the amount of water is 5.201 MAF. That is, it is filled to about 87.88 percent of its total capacity. Last year on the same day its level was 1633.45 feet and the water capacity was 4.032 MAF. Today the inflow of water here was 49,595 cusecs and the discharge was 43,176 cusecs.
Pong Dam built on Beas River: The full filling level of the dam is 1400 feet and the total capacity is 6.127 MAF. At present the water level is 1383.98 feet, in which 5.151 MAF water is present. This is about 84.07 percent of the total capacity. Last year on this day the level was 1359.19 feet and the amount of water was 3.822 MAF. Today the inflow of water was recorded at 59,278 cusecs and the discharge was 70,798 cusecs.
Thein Dam built on the Ravi River: The total filling capacity of the dam is 1731.98 feet and 2.663 MAF. At present its level is 1718.28 feet, in which the amount of water is 2.397 MAF. That is, it is filled to about 90.01 percent of its total capacity. Last year on this day the water level was 1645.26 feet and the amount of water was 1.321 MAF. Today the inflow of water here was 13,871 cusecs and the discharge was 8,529 cusecs.
Increase in temperature in Punjab Recorded
In Punjab, Hoshiarpur received 3 mm of rain and Bathinda received 1 mm of rain in the past few days. Amritsar also received pocket rain. But most of the districts remained dry. After which a slight increase of 0.6 degrees has been seen in the temperature. However, this is a normal temperature. The highest temperature was recorded in Mansa, which has reached 38 degrees.
Apart from this, Amritsar recorded a temperature of 34.8 degrees, Ludhiana 35.4 degrees, Patiala 35.3 degrees, Bathinda 35.5 degrees.
