The temperature in Punjab is gradually falling. The temperature dropped by 0.1 degrees in 24 hours. Today, the temperature is expected to drop by about 2 degrees. Mornings and nights will be cool, but a slight warming may be felt with the afternoon sun. However, the weather is expected to remain dry.

The air quality index was 500 in Rupnagar and 439 in Jalandhar. Bathinda and Ludhiana are two cities where the average AQI is exceeding 200. The AQI of all cities is exceeding 100. Meanwhile, the average AQI in Punjab on Sunday was 156. Respiratory patients need to be extra cautious.

In winter, all solid objects on the earth’s surface, such as roads, buildings, bridges, etc., release heat from the sun at night. This released heat rises 50 to 100 meters above the ground, forming a layer. This prevents atmospheric air from rising upwards, meaning that this air remains locked in the lower atmosphere.
The air near the ground below this layer is cold, and the movement of cold air is negligible. Pollution particles also mix with this air and are unable to rise upwards, causing pollution to become locked in with the cold air. This is why pollution increases in winter, leading to smog and fog.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain normal in Punjab from October 24 to October 30, 2025. Maximum temperatures are expected to be around 26-30°C in northern and eastern districts, 32-34°C in southwestern parts, and 30-32°C in other districts. Minimum temperatures will be around 12-14°C in northern and eastern parts, 10-12°C in Majha districts, and 14-16°C in other areas.
