Tragic incident in Ludhiana: Child dies after electric shock from high tension wire while climbing tree for berries

Ludhiana: A 10-year-old child died today after coming in contact with a volt high-tension wire in Ludhiana, Punjab. The child kept swinging on the wire and tree branches for about half an hour. When passersby saw the child swinging, they immediately raised an alarm and informed the police.

Electricity department employees also reached the spot. After cutting power and bringing the child down. They took him to a private doctor, who referred him to a big hospital, but the child had died by then. The name of the child who died is Shivam.

Shivam’s father, Rajesh, while giving information, said that Shivam had left the house on the pretext of playing. He climbed the roof of a house in the street and started plucking berries. Shivam has two siblings who are younger than him. The berries were at some distance, so Shivam climbed the tree. Suddenly his hand got stuck to the high-tension wire. The current was so strong that Shivam could not free himself.

Shivam kept swinging between the high-tension wires and the tree. After about half an hour, a passerby noticed the tree and immediately raised an alarm after seeing the body hanging. People tried to bring the child down. The power department switched off the power supply and brought Shivam down. He was still breathing at that time. He was taken to a nearby doctor, but he sent him to a bigger hospital, where Shivam died.
