1000 ultra modern Anganwadi Centers are being constructed across state: Dr Baljit Kaur

The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has been continuously working for the all-round development of women and children of the state. To achieve this objective, 1000 ultra-modern Anganwadi centers are being constructed in the state. This was revealed by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Punjab Dr. Baljit Kaur.

Giving more information in this regard, the Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that a budget provision of Rs. 100 crore has been made for the 1000 Anganwadi centers being constructed in the state. She also said that the cost of construction of each Anganwadi center will be Rs. 10 lakh.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that apart from the construction of the buildings of the Anganwadi centers, the allocated funds are also being used for the furniture of the Anganwadi. This includes flooring, painting, plumbing, electrification and wood work to ensure a fully functional and safe environment for children and women.

He further informed that the construction of Anganwadi centres is going on under the Rural Development Department. He said that the construction of 111 Anganwadi centres has been completed, while the construction of the buildings of the remaining Anganwadi centres is in progress.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that a committee has been constituted at the district level to ensure timely construction of these Anganwadi centres and adherence to high quality standards. She said that this district level committee is regularly monitoring these projects.

The Punjab Government is committed to expanding the infrastructure of Anganwadi centres, which will improve nutrition and early childhood care services across Punjab.
