15 days of Farmers on tracks: Over 200 trains affected daily; Passengers getting troubled

Jalandhar: Farmers of Punjab who started their protest on Shambhu border of Haryana and Punjab in support of their demands, have also occupied railway tracks at Sambhu station of Ambala section since April 17.

Vande Bharat Express, which is one of India’s super fast trains, reached Jalandhar late by about 3 hours, while Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express made the passengers wait for 2 hours. As per reports, on daily basis, over 200 trains are getting affected due to farmers on tracks out of which majority are running on diverted routes whereas rest are cancelled.

Due to farmers protest, passengers are facing problems as trains are either late or getting cancelled. Farmers e demanding the release of arrested farmers by Haryana Police and have blocked railway tracks at the Shambhu Railway station.

Trains going from and coming towards Punjab are hit largely due to farmers protests. In the same sequence, a dozen trains arriving at Jalandhar City Railway Station and Cantt Station were canceled today too. Due to this, passengers had to leave on their routes through other options and look for other alternatives.

Due to the trains being affected, various trains suffer route diversion. Some trains are turned back midway due to which the travel plans of the passengers are getting disrupted.
