4-day police remand for arms, drug smugglers

Punjab: Six suspects apprehended by the city police in connection with arms and drug trafficking were ordered to remain in police custody for four days by a local court today.

The Amritsar police seized 10 pistols from the suspects, including three high-end Austria-made 9 mm Glock pistols that were reportedly smuggled from Pakistan. Additionally, seven .32 caliber pistols were confiscated, which the police noted were also of very high quality and not locally manufactured.

The individuals arrested include Vinod Kumar, known as Rangeela, from Putlighar; Yuvraj Singh and Surkhap Singh from Roriwala border village; Jugraj Singh, also called Jaggu, from the Plah Sahib road area; Amritpal Singh from Sherpur village in Batala; and Prabhdeep Singh, known as Harman, from Mumrai village in Batala.

In the meantime, the police have initiated a search for Karanbir, the alleged mastermind, who resides in the Meerakot area.
