Ludhiana: 242 Aam Aadmi Clinics and 2889 Health and Wellness Centres (2403) Sub-Centres and 266 Primary Health Centres in urban areas of Punjab will now be known as Ayushman Arogya Kendras.

The Punjab government has started changing the names of these centres as per the central government guidelines. Boards were installed on 65 out of 94 clinics.

65 out of 94 Aam Aadmi Clinics in Ludhiana will now be known as Ayushman Arogya Kendras. New boards have been put on these clinics. The photograph of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has also been removed from these clinics.

The central government had objections to the names of the clinics. He said that by naming the centres opened with central government money as Aam Aadmi Clinics, the state government has violated branding norms.

There is a conflict between the central and state governments after the funding stopped. The responsibility of changing the boards has been given to the district health committees. These boards have “Ayushman Arogya Kendra” written in Punjabi, Hindi and English.

Recently, an agreement has been reached between the Centre and the State Governments. The State Government has decided that the names of the clinics run with NHM funds will be changed but the names of the clinics run with State Government funds will not be changed. Under this, it has been decided to change the names of 242 Aam Aadmi Clinics and 2889 Health and Wellness Centres.
