Ahead of fast unto death SKM’s Jagjeet Singh Dallewal detained by Police at midnight

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was going to start a hunger strike at the Khanauri border of Haryana-Punjab from today. But ahead of his hunger strike which was going to begin from today, Punjab Police detained Dallewal last midnight.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has informed that Dallewal was picked up from Khanauri border at around 2 o’clock on Monday night. The whereabouts of Jagjeet Singh Dallewal are not known yet. Pandher also added that many of the policemen who picked up Dallewal were speaking Hindi. It is also claimed that reportedly police team which detained Dallewal was from both Punjab and Haryana.

Pandher said that the central government is oppressing the farmers. He said that Dallewal has been picked up from the jurisdiction of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, so it is duty of Punjab government to clarify its position towards the farmers. Pandher also warned of the serious consequences is information about Dallewal is not revealed.

Dallewal had announced on November 4 that he would sit on a hunger strike as soon as the Parliament session begins. After this, the farmers will march to Delhi on December 6. A day before, on Monday, Jagjit Singh Dallewal held a press conference in Faridkot and said that he was going to sit on a fast unto death with a shroud tied on his head. He said that the central government will have to fulfill his demands or else he would sacrifice his life. The movement will not stop even with his death. After his death, other leaders will start a fast unto death.
