Chandigarh: Due to stubble burning in Punjab, the air quality of Punjab and Chandigarh has worsened. People are having difficulty breathing due to the dip in the air quality. The AQI of Chandigarh was recorded at 341 at 5 a.m. on Monday. Although the air of all the cities of Punjab is also polluted, the worst condition has been in Mandi Gobindgarh.
AQI 270 has been recorded here in Mandi Gobindagrh. At the same time, the cold has started increasing in the state. In 24 hours, the average maximum temperature has dropped by 0.4 degrees. It has been 1.7 degrees below normal. The highest temperature has been recorded at 31 degrees in Bathinda.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of dense fog at places today. Due to this, visibility is being affected. However, on Sunday, the AQI of Chandigarh had surpassed Delhi. The AQI of Chandigarh had reached 339, while the AQI in Delhi was recorded at 334.
AQI level is falling in all areas of Chandigarh. Sector-22 recorded AQI 337 at 5 am on Monday. While AQI 319 in Punjab University and New Chandigarh side and Sector-53 on Mohali side have been in the worst condition. Here AQI has reached 341. Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee has ordered the Municipal Corporation to take spraying and other steps in view of the condition of the city.
While talking about Punjab, Mandi Gobindgarh has been in the worst condition. Its AQI is 270, Jalandhar 207, Amritsar AQI 202, Ludhiana AQI 202, Bathinda AQI 175 and Patiala and Khanna AQI 199.
