Ajnala’s Man dream to settle in Canada shattered as wife defrauds of Rs 18 lakh, legal action sought

Amritsar: Sukhpreet Singh of Ajnala sent his wife abroad by spending Rs 18 lakh and now she has blocked the mobile phone numbers of all the family members of the family. This matter has now reached the court of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and District Rural SSP Charanjit Singh and its investigation has also started.

Advocate Naveen Mahajan of the victim’s side said that complaint has been lodged and legal action has been sought against Ranjit Avenue resident Harleen Kaur, her mother Amarjit Kaur, father Mohinder Singh, middleman Parminder Pal Singh.

Victim Sukhpreet said that he got married to Harleen on 12 February 2022. It was decided in the marriage that Harleen Kaur’s visa expenses will be borne by his family, and then Harleen would take him abroad with her.

After marriage, Sukhpreet’s family got Harleen’s visa for Rs 18 lakh to go to Canada. Harleen went abroad on 28 August 2022. As per the family, At the airport, Harleen took off her Suhaag Chuda and threw it in the garbage bin. As soon as she reached a foreign land, she blocked the mobile numbers of all the family members and now she is not talking to anyone.

Sukhpreet alleged that now the family of Harleen is demanding another 10 lakh rupees from him. The victim alleged that the wife had deliberately got the marriage date wrongly written in her documents due to which he is facing a problem in getting a visa.

Meanwhile, SSP Charanjeet Singh of the Rural district said that the matter has come to his notice and it is being investigated. Harleen Kaur’s mother Amarjeet Kaur termed the allegations of son-in-law Sukhpreet Singh as baseless and said that Sukhpreet is harassing her by filing complaints against her in the police station.
