Chandigarh: The Punjab government has changed the timings of government and private schools. This decision has been taken in view of the increasing cold in the state. From Monday, schools will start at 9 am and will remain open till 3 pm. This order will be applicable in government, private, aided and recognized schools of Punjab.
Orders were issued in this regard by the Education Department recently. Although these orders have come into effect from November 1. But, if the first day of school is on Monday, then it will start from Monday itself. There are more than 19 thousand schools in the whole of Punjab. On which the above orders will be applicable.
School timings in Punjab change 3 times in a session. From April 1 to September 30, the schools are from 8 am to 2 pm. Whereas from October 1 to October 31, the timing of primary schools is from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm and the timings from middle to senior secondary are from 8.30 am to 2.50 pm.
From November 1 to February 28, the timings for primary schools are from 9 am to 3 pm and for middle to senior secondary schools, the timings are from 9 am to 3.20 pm.
