Amid removal of CM Mann’s close aides Bibhav Kumar appointed as Chief Advisor: Reports

Chandigarh: In a shocking development in the Politics of Punjab, it is alleged that Bibhav Kumar personal assistant of former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been appointed as the Chief Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Bibhav Kumar came into the headlines as accused of alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. He was given bail by the Supreme Court last month in the assault case.
The information about Bibhav’s appointment as Chief Advisor to Punjab CM  has come at a time when many close aides and advisors of CM Bhagwant Mann have tendered their resignations or have been removed. Earlier OSD to CM Bhagwant Mann Onkar Singh was removed. Two days ago, Navneet Wadhwa, director, of communications, in the office of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, also tendered his resignation after he was asked to resign. 
The continuous removals of close aides of the Punjab CM and now the appointment of Bibhav Kumar as Chief Advisor to the Punjab CM is seen as a transference of power from the hands of Punjab to Delhi. It should be noted that there is no official confirmation and announcement about the appointment of Bibhav and soon it will be made public.
As soon as the information about the reported appointment came, political opponents of AAP targeted CM Mann and sought clarification.
BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to X and said, ” closest aides of Mann Sahab have been removed and now Bibhav will be controlling all operations, directly answering to Kejriwal. This is a shocking takeover… Punjab is being treated as Kejriwal’s Colony while Mann Sahab is reduced to a puppet role.”
He added , “I urge Mann Sahab who talks of Bhagat Singh and other revolutionaries… to take a stand against this attack on Punjab and his sovereignty. Mann Sahab, you are a Punjabi first and Kejriwal’s disciple later; hope you remember this.”

 

Similarly, Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira also took to X and termed the move as highly deplorable. Objecting the appointment, he said, “If the below news about tainted Vibhav Kumar being appointed as Chief Advisor to Cm @BhagwantMann is true it means @ArvindKejriwal has taken control of Punjab directly in his hands which is highly deplorable and abject surrender of Punjab by @BhagwantMann. Remember this Vibhav Kumar is the same person who was jailed for beating up Mp Ms Swati Maliwal.”
