Amritsar: Dispute over money transaction, Goldsmith shot dead in broad daylight

Amritsar: A goldsmith was shot dead in the head in Amritsar yesterday. A man had come to the deceased’s shop with his son, brother-in-law and family members to transact money. During this, an argument broke out between the two parties.

After this, the accused went home and brought a pistol. Here he again argued and came into the street and shot the goldsmith. In which the goldsmith died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Simranpal Singh. CCTV footage of the incident has also come to light. In which the accused is seen running away after the shooting. The police have arrested him.

According to the police, both Jasdeep Singh Chann and Simranpal Singh were friends. Both worked as goldsmiths. They used to visit each other. Simranpal Singh has a shop in the name of Jaipal Jeweller in Tahliwala Bazaar. On Friday afternoon, Jasdeep Singh along with his son and family went to Simranpal Singh’s shop for some business.

During this, an argument broke out between the two. After the matter escalated, Jasdeep Singh left there. At 3 pm, he again came to Simranpal Singh’s shop and started arguing with him. While arguing, both of them came out into the street outside the shop. During this, Jasdeep Singh took out a pistol and shot Simranpal Singh in the head.

The police further said that the bullet hit Simranpal Singh in the head and he fell into the street. After this, a person caught the accused Jasdeep Singh Chann, due to which he got scared and ran away. Simranpal was immediately taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
