Amritsar Police busts cross-border heroin smuggling gang; 6.1 Kg heroin seized

Amritsar, July 26: Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted an organised heroin smuggling gang in a major operation against Pakistan-based drug smugglers. This gang used to bring drugs into India through border areas.

The main accused Sarabjit alias Joban, who was operating from a border village, had direct links with notorious smuggler Rana in Pakistan. Police arrested Sarabjit along with a minor and recovered 1 kg heroin from them.

During this investigation, two more drug smugglers, Dharam Singh and Kulbir Singh, were arrested from Ajnala area. 5.106 kg heroin was recovered from them.

Total recovery:
• 6.106 kg heroin
• 2 motorcycles

Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered at Police Station Airport and Police Station Chheharta in this regard.

Punjab Police DGP gave information through a tweet and said that the resolve to crack down on drug gangs to protect the future of the young generation of Punjab is unbreakable.
