Clash averted in Canada: Police intervene as Khalistan supporters confront Independence Day celebrators

Amritsar: The atmosphere once again became tense between Indians and Khalistani supporters celebrating Independence Day in Surrey, Canada. Indians were celebrating Independence Day in Surrey with the tricolour and shouting slogans of Hindustan Zindabad. Meanwhile, Khalistani supporters also reached there. Seeing the atmosphere deteriorating, the Canadian police had to come to intervene.

The incident is from Surrey, Canada. Indians had gathered outside the Guru Nanak Gurudwara in Surrey on the morning of 15 August as per Canadian time. This is the same place where terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead by unknown gunmen on 18 June 2023 last year. Here Indians reached outside the Gurudwara with a tricolor rally and started celebrating Independence Day.

During this time, Khalistani fundamentalists tried to clash with Indian citizens. On one side Indians were waving the Indian tricolor, while on the other side, Khalistan supporters reached with Khalistan flags.

After the Khalistan supporters and Indians came face to face, a tussle started. Khalistanis started raising slogans against India, while Indians raised slogans against Khalistan. Finally, seeing the situation getting worse, the Canadian police had to intervene. The police separated both sides from each other.

Indians started protesting against Khalistan supporters. Seeing the situation, Indians started gathering outside Guru Nanak Gurdwara. Finally, Khalistan supporters had to move away from there.
