In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police made the biggest seizure of 2025 here in Amritsar. In an intelligence-led operation, Amritsar Rural Police busted a cross-border smuggling racket. Police recovered heroin and also arrested a drug smuggler. The information has been shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav through a post on X.

The Amritsar rural police apprehended one drug smuggler and recovered 30 Kg of Heroin along with one car.
As per police, Drones were used to transport drugs from Pakistan. Police arrested the accused. As per police, he was involved in large-scale heroin smuggling, and it was reported that he had recently received a large consignment of Heroin smuggled via drone across the border.
An FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Gharinda by the Amritsar rural Police. Further investigations are ongoing to identify more individuals involved and to trace the origins of the smuggling network.
