Former Punjab minister Majithia does not get relief from court: Next hearing on 25th

Chandigarh, July 22: The bail plea of former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, arrested in the disproportionate assets case in Punjab, was heard in Mohali court today (22 July). However, the debate on this issue went on for about two hours. The court has sought a report from the DGP Jail in two days regarding the change of barrack in the jail. At the same time, the government has filed a reply regarding the ground of arrest in the court. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 25 July.

Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on June 25 from Amritsar. It is believed that the Vigilance Bureau is preparing to file a challan in this case soon so that Majithia can be put under control. However, CM Bhagwant Mann is calling this a big success of the campaign against drugs being run by the government.

In this case, Majithia has filed three important applications:

Demand for change of barracks – His lawyers argued that Majithia has been a former minister and MLA, so he should get the provision of protected category (orange category) as per the jail manual.

Grounds of arrest and copy of jail manual: Majithia has demanded from the court that he be given detailed information about the reason for his arrest and jail rules.

Bail application: on which a notice has been issued to the Punjab government.

It is hoped that the next step in the case will be clear from today’s hearing.
