Amritsar, May 27: An explosion took place outside the ‘Decent Avenue’ colony located on Majitha Road Bypass in Amritsar. In which one person died. As soon as the news of the explosion was received, there was panic in the area and the police team immediately reached the spot.

According to eyewitnesses, the blast happened suddenly, and the sound was quite loud. When people arrived, a person, whose hands and legs were blown off, was crying in pain. The person injured in the incident was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

Police is investigating , nature of explosion is not clear

Police team of Thana Sadar and bomb disposal squad reached the spot. After initial investigation, police officials said that they had received information that an explosion had taken place, and a person was found injured at the spot. Police said that “at the moment it is not clear what caused the explosion. Forensic team has also been called to the spot.”

Security beefed up in the area

After the incident, security has been increased in Decent Avenue and the surrounding area. People living in the colony are being questioned and footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being examined.

SSP said – This could be a terrorist incident.

Whereas, in this case, SSP Maninder Singh has expressed apprehension that this could be a terrorist incident. SSP said that there have been many cases in the past in which consignment of weapons was kept at an unknown place. Terrorists used to go to pick it up later. It is suspected that this person also came here to pick up the consignment and the blast took place.

SSP Maninder Singh says that Pakistani agencies are taking actions to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab. At present, forensic teams have reached the spot. It is being investigated from every angle.

DIG said- the person was working for a terrorist organization

Meanwhile, Border Range DIG Satinder Singh has said that the person had come here to pick up a consignment of weapons kept by a terrorist organization. The blast took place near a pillar. The terrorists had hidden the consignment of weapons here by making the pillar their location.

According to the DIG, the identity of the deceased is being ascertained. Some evidence has been found in his pocket, which makes it clear that he was working for a terrorist organisation. However, it is not yet clear which organisation he is linked to.
