Blind murder case solved; Commissionerate Police Jalandhar nabs accused

Jalandhar, 05 May: In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police solved the blind murder case of an elderly woman in Mota Singh Nagar and arrested the accused involved in the crime.

Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police, Dhanpreet Kaur, said that an FIR No.73 dated 02.05.2025 under 103(1) BNS was registered at PS Division No.6, Jalandhar on the statement of Bheem Sein Duggal, son of late Sant Parkash, resident of H.No.325, Mota Singh Nagar, Jalandhar. The complainant stated that on 01.05.2025, he had gone to the market while his wife, Vinod Kumari, aged 69, was alone at home. Upon returning, he repeatedly rang the doorbell but received no response. He entered the house by jumping the wall and found his wife lying dead on the bedroom floor. Her gold bangles, rings, and mobile phone were missing, indicating robbery as a motive.

Acting swiftly, the CIA Staff of Jalandhar Police, with the help of technical intelligence, CCTV footage, and reliable sources, tracked down the suspect. The accused, identified as Kartik Wallabh Reddy, aged 21, son of Raman Wallabh Reddy, a native of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and was arrested on May 4, 2025.

She further said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had noticed an elderly man leaving the house, leaving the woman alone. Seizing the opportunity, he jumped the wall, entered the house, robbed the victim, and then murdered her before fleeing with the stolen jewellery and phone.

CP Dhanpreet Kaur emphasised that the Jalandhar Police is committed to maintaining law and order and will not tolerate such criminal activities. Criminals have no escape in Jalandhar, she added.
