Kapurthala: The body of a youth was found near a petrol pump on Goindwal Road in Kapurthala this morning. A bike was also found near the body. The police reached the spot, took the body into custody, kept it in the mortuary of the civil hospital, and started an investigation.
The deceased youth has been identified as 24-year-old Jatinder Singh, son of Vijay Singh, resident of village Naven Pind Bhatte. The mother of the deceased youth, Meena Devi, who was present at the spot, said that an auto driver, Hira Singh, an acquaintance of hers, informed her in the morning that the body of her son, Jatinder Singh, was lying on the roadside. The youth also has serious injuries on his head. At the same time, the deceased’s friend Amarpreet, a resident of village Nava Pind, said that Jatinder Singh was with him last night, but at night he left him at home and went back to his home. When he learned about this incident in the morning, he reached the spot.
ASI of the SSF team who reached the spot said that he got a call from the control room in the morning that an accident had happened on Goindwal Sahib Road. His team reached the spot, took the body into custody, and informed the ambulance.
DSP Sub Division Harpreet Singh said that it is believed that the bike rider collided with an unknown vehicle late at night. The body has been taken into custody and kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. The matter is being investigated.
