The Punjab government is in action mode against drug smugglers. Under this series, a bulldozer operation is being carried out on the property of a drug smuggler in Barnala today. During this, the drug smuggler’s building was demolished. This building was built almost two floors high. It is being told that this property belonged to 2 women smugglers, which they had built illegally with drug money. 16 cases have been registered against these two smugglers under the NDPS Act.
Soon, police and administration officials will talk to the media. However, this building was empty. Meanwhile, Health Minister Balbir Singh will visit Rupnagar (Ropar) today. As a member of the high-powered committee formed to monitor the government’s drug de-addiction campaign, he will conduct a surprise check of the Civil Hospital and review the health facilities in the district.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has held the opposition parties responsible for the questions being raised on the ongoing action against drugs by the Punjab government. He claimed that special provisions will be made in the upcoming budget to deal with this epidemic.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema says that the Shiromani Akali Dal (Akali Dal-BJP alliance) and the Congress government are responsible for the drug epidemic in Punjab. Before 2007, Punjab had never heard of heroin or synthetic drugs like ‘chitta’.
