Chandigarh: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two accused including a Dealing Assistant and a Clerk of Estate Office, Chandigarh for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant.
A case was registered by CBI on 14.10.2024 against accused Dealing Assistant of Estate Office, Chandigarh on the basis of a written complaint on allegations that there was a dispute regarding ownership of the house and the said dispute was settled through the court in year 2013. It is further alleged that the accused visited the complainant at his aforesaid residence and told the complainant that he was residing illegally in the said house.
The accused also threatened the complainant and demanded a bribe of Rs.2.50 lakhs for sorting out the matter. Later, after negotiations accused agreed to accept Rs.1.00 lakh as bribe.
CBI laid a trap and caught two accused Dealing Assistant and the said Clerk red red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant.
CBI conducted searches at the residential and official premises of the accused which led to the recovery of incriminating documents. Later both accused were arrested and produced in Court today.
