Chandigarh administration begins clearing illegal encroachments in furniture market; Road to Mohali closed

The administration is taking action against illegal encroachments in the years-old furniture market built on government land along the road of Sector-53/54 of Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, July 20: The administration is taking action against illegal encroachments in the years-old furniture market built on government land along the road of Sector-53/54 of Chandigarh. Regarding this, DC Nishant Kumar Yadav of Chandigarh has instructed the police, municipal corporation, health department, fire department and other related departments as well as the three SDMs to remain alert and not give any mischievous element a chance to spoil the atmosphere.

Officers of the Chandigarh administration and a large police force are present on the spot. But most of the shopkeepers have not removed their goods from inside. They are being given a last warning. At present, the road has also been closed from both sides.

During the action on Sunday, the road leading from Sector-53/54 towards Mohali has been temporarily closed. The administration has asked people to take another route for commuting. The DC has asked all the departments to do their work responsibly so that there is no chaos. Also, instructions have been given to complete all the necessary arrangements in advance and be present on the spot.
The administration made these arrangements

During this action of the administration, 1000 policemen will be deployed to maintain law and order. This will include male and female policemen as well as Quick Response Teams (QRTs). The fire department will be present on the spot with its necessary equipment, while the health department will provide emergency medical services. The Municipal Corporation will do the work of removing the debris and the Engineering Department will provide necessary technical support.
