Big news for Chandigarhians traveling in cabs and autos, to pay more as administration fixes fare

Traveling in taxis, autos, e-rickshaws, and bike taxis in Chandigarh has now become expensive. The administration has fixed different fares. There is a fixed fare for 3 km. After this, the fare will be charged according to the number of kilometers travelled.

The fare of a five-seater taxi

The Transport Department issued an order regarding this on Monday. This order has come into effect from Monday (July 7). Now the fare for 3 km in a five-seater taxi will be Rs 90. After this, Rs 25 will be charged for one km. However, after this order, people will have to loosen their pockets more.

Cab drivers said that earlier they used to charge Rs 13 to 14 for every km, that is, Rs 39 or 42 for 3 km, but now people will have to pay Rs 90 for 3 km. That is, people will have to pay Rs 50 more. The order issued by Transport Secretary Deeparwa Lakra has said that if a driver asks for more than the fixed price, the passenger can file a complaint. People can contact the transport department or the police helpline number.

New orders are profitable for Cab drivers

Chandigarh Auto Union chief Anil Kumar said that earlier they used to charge Rs 14 for 1 km. After this, they used to charge Rs 7 for every km, that is, Rs 28 for 3 km. After this order, now they have a profit of Rs 22 per 3 km. Because now the fare for 3 km has been fixed at Rs 50.

Chandigarh Cab Driver Association president Amandeep Singh said that he had been on a hunger strike for several days. Former Chandigarh BJP president Arun Sudha listened to him and introduced the cab driver to Chandigarh Administrator Gulabchand Kataria. He submitted his demand letter to him. The only demand in his demand letter was that private companies be reined in. For this, a long battle was fought. After this order, they welcome the administration.
