Chandigarh Police transfers 2 DSPs, 15 inspectors following restaurant explosion

Chandigarh [India]: Two deputy superintendents of police and 15 inspectors have been reassigned to different positions in Chandigarh, following an order from the Chandigarh Superintendents of Police on Tuesday. This decision comes in the wake of an explosion reported outside the De’Orra Alehouse and Kitchen restaurant in Sector 26.

According to the announcement, DSP Udaypal Singh will serve as the Sub-Divisional Police Officer in Central Chandigarh, while DSP Sunhwinder Pal will take on the role of DSP Security at the High Court. They will officially start their new positions on November 30, 2024, while the inspectors will begin their roles immediately.

The police have filed an FIR and initiated an investigation into the explosion incident. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilbag Singh Dhaliwal stated that they received a call at approximately 3:25 AM, indicating a “personal problem” at the location. Upon arrival, the investigating officer found broken glass at the scene.

Dhaliwal noted, “We received information in the control room about a personal issue. Our investigating officer observed broken glass at the site. At this moment, we cannot provide further details. The forensic team has arrived, but they have not yet shared any information. We have just lodged the FIR, and it’s still early in the investigation.” Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties, as the restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.
