Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C chairs high-level meeting with all DCs, CPs and SSPs

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners, Police Commissioners and SSPs that if any kind of misinformation or information is spread during the Lok Sabha elections – 2024, then it should be refuted immediately.

He said that social media platforms can be used appropriately for this purpose. Along with this, he stressed that during voting, different social media platforms should also be used to convey important messages and information to the voters.

Holding a high-level meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners, Police Commissioners and SSPs of Punjab through video conferencing at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C said that the voting should be conducted transparently without any bias and without any pressure.

 He said that the election staff is committed to strictly implement the instructions of the Election Commission of India and any kind of laxity will not be tolerated. Appropriate action will be taken against negligent officers and employees.

He said that it is mandatory to resolve any type of complaint during the election process within the time limit set by the Election Commission of India. He directed that if any incident occurs in any district, it should be immediately reported so that necessary steps can be taken. He inspired the district officials to work with agility and agility during voting.

Sibin C said that to implement the slogan of ‘Is Baar 70 paar’ to increase the polling percentage, all the districts should increase activities by identifying those areas where the voting percentage was low during the last polling. Along with this, he directed that if any political party asks for any kind of permission during the election process, then it should be settled within the stipulated time limit. He said that District Officers should hold meetings with political parties and keep their representatives informed about the instructions and rules of the Election Commission.

He asked the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers to immediately issue instructions to the concerned officers/employees to remove/cover the photographs of political personalities displayed on all government buildings after the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct. Along with this, the Chief Electoral Officer motivated the district officers to provide necessary facilities to the election staff and voters and to create the best polling stations.
