Ludhiana: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today launched the new website nri.punjab.gov.in of the Department of NRI Affairs to facilitate the resolution of issues faced by the migrant Indian community.
Launching the website here today, the Chief Minister described it as a major initiative to ensure the welfare of the diaspora and help them stay connected to their roots. He said that with the help of NIC Administrative Reforms Department has developed a state-of-the-art website. CM Mann said that on website there is detailed information related to the Police Wing, Punjab State Commission for NRIs and NRI Sabha.
Similarly, the Chief Minister said that this website will also provide many facilities provided by the state government on a single click. He said that this website will help to ensure the benefit of other schemes for NRIs as well as help in getting their documents verified. Bhagwant Singh Mann said the website will also provide helpline numbers, e-mail addresses and WhatsApp complaint numbers.
The Chief Minister said that the website also has detailed information about travel agents/agencies registered with the Punjab government and immigration agents/agencies registered with the Ministry of External Affairs.
He said that the website also has a link to Punjab’s centralized online complaint portal www.connect.punjab.gov.in in which non-resident Indians and other people can register their complaints. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed the hope that this website will help in solving the problems faced by the migrant Indian community which will bring them convenience to a large extent.
The Chief Minister further informed that the state government will set up a ‘Punjab Support Center’ at the arrival hall of the international terminal. He said that this center will work 24X7 and provide adequate assistance to NRIs and other passengers at the terminal. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this center will provide assistance regarding flight arrivals, other flights, taxi services, lost luggage and other facilities at the airport.
