Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to dedicate the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences today

As part of his commitment to ensure world-class health facilities in the state, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will dedicate Punjab’s first Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences to the people on Thursday. S.A.S. Established in Phase B1 of the city, this institution is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure for super-specialty care, training and research in the field of hepatology.

The institute has been set up at a cost of over Rs 40 crore and will have a staff of around 450, including 80 doctors, 150 staff nurses and 200 Group-D employees. Pro. Varinder Singh, former professor and head of Hepatology PGI, Chandigarh, has been appointed as the director of the institution.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, while thanking Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the support given to complete the work of this prestigious institution, said that after New Delhi, Punjab will be the second state in the country where liver and biliary diseases are prevalent. There will be an institute especially for the patients.

It is worth mentioning that this institute has been established like the Delhi-based Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS). Dr. Balbir Singh said that this will be the first government hospital in the state where UGI. Endoscopy, Fibroscan, Endoscopic Ultrasound and ERCP. Such diseases will be treated.
