On Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann conveyed his heartfelt wishes to Punjabis worldwide for the festive occasions of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas.
In his statement, he emphasized that Diwali—a celebration of love and prosperity—has been honored with deep devotion and enthusiasm for centuries. He noted that the bright lights of Diwali not only brighten every home but also symbolize the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair.
Mann expressed his hope that this Diwali would once again usher in peace, prosperity, and happiness for the people, while also fostering communal harmony, peace, and brotherhood among all.
Additionally, he extended greetings to all citizens, particularly the Sikh community, on the significant occasion of ‘Bandi Chhor Diwas,’ which commemorates the release of 52 Hindu princes from Gwalior Fort by the Sixth Guru, Sri Hargobind Sahib Ji, on Diwali in 1612.
Mann encouraged everyone to celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas with traditional joy and enthusiasm, urging them to rise above narrow considerations of caste, color, creed, and religion, thereby reinforcing the bonds of harmony, friendship, and goodwill. He concluded by wishing that Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas bring peace, prosperity, and abundant happiness to the people.
