CM Mann hands over Cheque of Rs 1 crore to deceased farmer Shubhkaran’s Kin

Kin of Shubhkaran Singh, a young farmer who died during farmers’ protest at Khanauri border due to a gunshot has received a cheque of Rs 1 crore from the Punjab Government. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann himself handed over the cheque to the family.

Apart from giving a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the family of Shubhkaran Singh, Punjab CM also handed over an appointment letter of a government job to the sister of Shubhkaran.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a post on X, said, “Shubkaran Singh, a young farmer, was martyred due to a gunshot wound on the Khanuri border during the farmers’ agitation.. Met the family of the martyred farmer… As promised, a cheque of 1 crore rupees was given to the family and an appointment letter for a government job. .. Farmers’ own government stands shoulder to shoulder with farmers in every sorrow and joy and will continue to stand…”

On 21 February, at Khanauri border of Punjab and Haryana, Young farmer Shubkaran and his companions started moving towards Delhi, but the Haryana government blocked the road and fired tear gas shells indiscriminately. Bullets were also fired during the clash.

Charanjit Singh had told that he was just five steps away from Shubkaran, when a bullet hit him from behind the head. After which he was badly injured. He was taken to the hospital. About an hour later, a call came to the village that the doctor had declared him dead.
