Cold wave alert in Punjab-Chandigarh: Effect of western disturbance, 7 districts record temp less than 5 degrees

Chandigarh: Cold-wave alert is issued in Punjab-Chandigarh. According to the Meteorological Center, the temperature will continue to fall in Punjab-Chandigarh till December 15. Even yesterday, the temperature of Punjab fell by 0.3 and Chandigarh by 0.4 degrees. There were 7 cities in Punjab where temperature was recorded below 5 degrees. The temperature in Pathankot reached 2 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Center, today a yellow alert is issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Roonagar and SAS Nagar of Punjab. The temperature here is expected to fall by 2 to 8 degrees.

The effect of Western Disturbance is being seen in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal adjoining Punjab. Snowfall continues in the mountains due to Western Disturbance. Due to snowfall in the mountains, the temperature in Punjab is continuously falling. At the same time, there is no possibility of rain for the next week. Due to this, the weather will remain dry.

The month of December also remained dry for Punjab. 84 percent less rain has been recorded in Punjab and 91 percent less in Chandigarh. Apart from Jalandhar, SBS Nagar, Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Sangrur, there has been no rain in any city.

At the same time, in the first 11 days of December, Chandigarh normally receives 5.1 mm of rain, but till now only 0.4 mm of rain has been reported here, which is 91 percent less than normal.
