Amritsar: A drone owned by a family living near the Central Jail, Amritsar area was flying near the High Security Zone of the Central Jail, Amritsar, and fell inside the central jail after the drone went out of control.
Flying drones near prisons is highly dangerous because of security reasons. Drones near Central Jail, Amritsar can be used to help in unauthorized entry, drug smuggling, escape of prisoners, etc., which is a threat to the sovereignty of the state as well.
Therefore, Manmohan Singh Aulakh, PPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-cum-Executive Magistrate, Amritsar City, using the authority under Section 144 has imposed restrictions on the flying of a drone within 500 meters area of the Central Jail, Amritsar.
This order will be applicable from 23.01.2024 to 21.04.2024.
