Truck full of Poppy husk seized in Bathinda

Bathinda: Counterintelligence (CI) in Bathinda on Monday caught a container truck full of poppy husk at a check post. 4100 kg (210 sacks) of poppy husk were recovered from the truck. A smuggler was arrested on this occasion.

The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh, alias Kaka (truck driver), a resident of village Raipur, Arayan Nakodar, Jalandhar. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the police teams of Counter Intelligence Bathinda have caught him in collaboration with the district police.

Initial investigation by the police has revealed that this consignment of drugs was to be delivered to Jalandhar, Moga, and Ferozepur districts. Police teams are engaged in breaking this entire network. AIG CI Bathinda Avneet Kaur Sidhu said that the arrested drug smuggler had earlier also confessed to carrying such a large consignment of Bhukki from Pratapgarh in Madhya Pradesh to Punjab. He said that further investigation into this matter is going on.

In this regard, FIR No. 118, dated July 15, 2024, has been registered at Police Station Canal Colony Bathinda under Section 15C of the NDPS Act.

However, the tarpaulin was put on the truck in such a way that no one could even suspect it.
