Damage to wheat crops after unseasonal rain, SAD demands compensation for farmers

Chandigarh: Raising the concern of farmers, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has talked about the adverse effect of unseasonal rain on farmers.

In a post on X, Sukhbir Badal shared a video of a wheat field with flattened wheat crops all around. He said that damage has been done by unseasonal rain to the wheat crops in the Malwa region of Punjab. He mentioned that this is another blow as earlier hailstorms in major areas of Punjab have caused damage to the crops.

He said, “Unseasonal rain and hailstorm has flattened the wheat crop across vast swathes in the Malwa region of the State. This is a double blow for farmers who face a hailstorm some time back also.”

He even appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that he should order a girdwari to assess the damage to wheat crops. He also demanded compensation to farmers immediately.

“CM @BhagwantMann  should order a girdwari to assess damage to the wheat crop as well as provide interim compensation to farmers immediately”, he further added.
