Dharamsot granted interim bail till June 5 for election campaign

Chandigarh : The Punjab-Haryana High Court has granted interim bail to the former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, who is in custody in the case of disproportionate assets, till June 5 for campaigning.

The High Court clarified in the order that they will not be able to go abroad during this time and they will have to deposit a bail bond of 50 thousand rupees.

In January, the ED had arrested former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in the case of making assets beyond the living income. There are allegations against Dharamsot that during the Congress regime, his income while he was the Forest Minister was Rs 2.37 crore while he spent Rs 8.76 crore.

The sources through which they spent more than the income are being investigated. Dharamsot went to the ED office to join the investigation. Where they were arrested saying that they were not cooperating.

Dharamsot has approached the High Court regarding the demand for bail in the same case, on which the High Court issued a notice to the ED and sought a response. During the debate, Dharamsot’s lawyer referred to the Supreme Court’s order granting interim bail to Delhi CM Kejriwal for election campaign. Based on this, the High Court has granted interim bail to Dharamsot till June 5.
