Case register against ASI in Firozpur, Alleges misconduct under investigation

Punjab: During the campaign against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has registered a case of corruption against Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pyara Singh posted at Mandi Ladhuka police post of Fazilka Sadar police station area for accepting a bribe of Rs 4500.

An official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that this case has been registered against the said police employee (now retired) after an investigation of an online complaint lodged by Veeru Singh, a resident of Mandi Ladhuka town of Fazilka district on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line Portal.

He further said that the complainant has stated in his complaint that he had registered a police case against another person in Fazilka Sadar police station and the said police employee was the investigating officer in this case. He further alleged that the said ASI had taken Rs 2500 and Rs 2000 on different days during the month of February in lieu of presenting the supplementary challan in the court related to this case. The complainant had recorded the conversation with the said ASI while demanding bribe in this regard, which he submitted to the Vigilance as evidence.

The spokesperson said that during the investigation of this complaint, it was proved that the said ASI had demanded bribe from the complainant twice for the said purpose. After this, a case has been registered against the accused in the Police Station Ferozepur Range of Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Raids are being conducted by the Vigilance to arrest the accused and he will be arrested soon.
